down under art
Mate, what a city. Melboure. The people, the parks, the sports, the surrounding nature, wineries and, the museums.
Two of these museums shelter under the umbrella of the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) and man, are they awesome both on the inside as on the outside!
The NGV International focuses on more classical, international art. Here you find Dutch, French and Italian old masters, impressive artifacts from Oceania and other thrilling stuff. Totally wicked is the atrium of the building which showcases an enormous stained glass ceiling that smashes you.
After enjoying the International, treat yourself to a cup of coffee, cross the river and walk to Federation Square where you’ll be contemporary welcomed by all the modern art Oceania has to offer.
Enough culture for a day? Sit down in one of the beach chairs at Federation Square and indulge in some visual crowdsurfing.
The cost of one day down under art? $4 for your medium sized Latte.
