bratislava boutique
Plagued by battles, decease and other ‘thumbs down’ events, the Slovakian capital of Bratislava has certainly gotten its share of European history. But since the grim veil of times past was lifted at the start of the 1990’s, the city has – not for the first time in over 800 years – gotten to its feet again. Though fairly small with a population of only 460.000 Slovaks, former Pressburg stands proudly on the banks of the Danube and Morava Rivers.
Bratislava is easily accessible and centrally located within driving distance of three historic European capitals Prague (3 hours), Budapest (2 hours) and Vienna (1 hour). When you land at Vienna International Airport it takes you even 15 minutes less to reach the city. For only 46 euro you’ll be picked up by a black limousine and dropped off at your destination (Mercedes Taxi – www.taxi-schwechat.sk).
A comfortable place to discover the Old Town as well as the new ‘Eurovea’ town from is the 5-star boutique hotel Tulip House. The downtown hotel is situated in a renovated 1903 Art Nouveau style building and features luxury suites, a French-Slovakian restaurant, cafe and a spa. Upon arrival you are met with some bubbles and with a minimum of 55m2 for the smallest (Executive Suite) room, you won’t feel claustrophobic. With 210 square meters, 2 floors, a fireplace and rooftop terrace with views of the Bratislava castle, the hotel also welcomes true Bohemians.
From the Tulip House it’s only a few minutes walk to the historical centre. Music, entertainment, fashion and food lovers can walk into the opposite direction towards the new city centre Eurovea on the Danube riverbank. Here you’ll find fashion stores, a cinema, the Slovak National Theatre, cafes, restaurants and, from March till October, countless terraces.
One or two days are all you need to get acquainted with Bratislava and while you do so, why not enjoy a splash of luxury and stay in one of the contemporary neutral chic suites of the Tulip House Boutique Hotel?
