rhodds barn rural retreat

garden rhodds barn by www.journeylism.nlCary and Richard Goode did something many of us dream about. They acquired and old farm on the English countryside and turned it into a beautiful mansion. The 13 acres of land that came with the farm were transformed into a lush garden full of art, flowers and places to enjoy the views of hills rolling over the horizon.

Along with the farm came a 30 meters long barn which they turned into a guest quarter filled with instruments, an original Wurlitzer, 1000’s of books, a wood stove and 2 bedroom with ensuite bathrooms. A stone’s throw away from the Welsh medieval gem Hay on Wye, this is a place to relax, enjoy the landscape, the fresh air and history that hides behind each and every corner or cobblestone.

Downstairs you’ll find the fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower and toilet and several places to sit back and relax near the fire or enjoy a fine dinner. Here you’ll also find the Wurlitzer filled with Elvis, Roy Orbison and the Beach Boys. Upstairs there’re two two-person bedrooms with ensuite bathroom including bathtub, a television corner and a piano. Here’s also a balcony from which you can see as far as Wales. It is a nice and quite place to see the sun come up in the morning or watch the stars come out at night.
