mama mia

Watching The Sopranos or one of the Godfathers can give you an appetite. Or not, it all depends on the scenes. But bungee jumping without a rope or horse head riding in bed aside, it is the attractiveness of the Italian kitchen that makes watching Tony or Don Vito extra tasteful.

So, sitting on an old church bench in front of Cibo & Vino in one of Amsterdam’s most charming neighborhoods, De Jordaan, you feel like you are part of an Italian culinary movie. With people passing on the street in front of you and the tiny, busy tratoria behind you providing the images and Lorenzo, the father of the owner providing the dialogues. Oh, and not forgetting the scents. They add to a delicious 4D experience.

As said, Cibo & Vino is tiny. But it only adds to the charm of this place when people line up in front of the counter to take out the dinner they have been dreaming about all day, or customers ordering their tortellini’s and wine to eat outside on the wooden church bench.

Be prepared to eat more than you intended when you sit down at this place. The orders your neighbors have placed do make you decide to stick around just one plate and a glass of Italian wine longer.
