After the usual formalities and Super-G down a piste of narco dogs you have officially arrived in Chile. Behind customs Dennis, owner of Casa Bonita, Dutch and married to a Chilean, is waiting to drive you to the historic heart of Santiago where his B&B is ready to embrace you with warmth and alure.

Only open for a few years now, word of mouth has spread like a virus and Casa Bonita has served as a home to countless travelers to this beautiful country and city.

Dennis and his wife have created a travel monument out of nothing. A B&B with thick adobe walls, wooden floors and stained glass windows.

In the dark years of the Chilean dictatorship, the building was owned by the church. It served as a meeting place for opponents of the Pinochet regime. That darkness has left Chile, although occasionally a shadow of history still casts over the country. But not here at Pasaje Republica no 5. Here the rooms are light, hospitality is warm and history has been laid to rest.
