goulash and stuff

What appears to be a quite night in Budapest quickly turns into a crowded experience when entering steaming Pozsonyi Kisvendéglő. Booths full of people, tables collapse under the weight of the Hungarian cuisine and air filled with laughter mixed with the smell of goulash.

Pozsonyi Kisvendéglő is a small traditional Budapest restaurant on the corner of Radnóti Miklós utca and Pozsonyi ut and a potato’s throw away from the city’s green lung Margaret Island. In summer Pozsonyi doubles it’s size with an inviting terrace. In winter you’ll have to share the place with the massive dishes, huge glasses of beer, local wine for 3 euro a liter and a lot of happiness.

Eating (and drinking) at Pozsonyi is tasting a bit of Hungary’s culture. The menu reads like a book with pages covered in traditional dishes like goulash and ragout as well as an incredible selection of 13 different kinds of soups. Chances of finding submarine sized potato croquettes accompanying your meal are 2 out of 3.

With tables covered with red and white blocked tablecloth and the sound of a cimbalom music coming from the kitchen, Pozsonyi feels like a warm blanket on a cold winter night.
