Thorkil Brodersen is an architect. And as goes for doctors concerning their own health, or cleaners and their hygiene at home; architects who design and build their own house are tricky. But fortunately for all who want to enjoy the quality of life, Thorkil is an exception to this rule.

Surrounded by laid-back farmland and a mellow and shallow fjord, you tend to forget that city life is only an hour’s drive away. Here, in the hamlet of Kisserup. Strand Thorkil worked his magic and
has blown life into the blueprint of the perfect summer (and winter) house.

With Copenhagen around the corner and some small fishing and artesian villages a stones throw away, you can live the good live.

The wooden house is a reflection of Thorkil’s soul; a transparent and minimalistic interior, dotted with some dark elements like leather chesterfields and a woodstove. The continuously changing light is addictive to photographers, as is the sometimes near perfect reflection of the fjord’s water.

Thorkil’s dream measures over 100 square meter. From the living room you step onto a huge wooden terrace which leads you to the backyard that, 50 meters from the house, gently kisses the sea.

For the nearest store, restaurant and cafe you walk a few kilometers through rolling farmland. The charming city of Holbaek is less then 20 km away, Copenhagen an hours drive, Roskilde about 30 minutes.

At the end of another wonderful day in Kisserup, light up the woodstove or BBQ, play one of Thorkil’s classic CD’s and treat yourself to a bottle of wine or glass full of sweet memories.
